Prior to first use, wash thoroughly with warm soapy water. Brush the cast iron pot with cooking oil all over. Heat your oven to 200° and place the pot inside for 15 minutes. This seasons the surface of the cast iron and helps form a non stick coating. The cast iron will become very hot. Use an oven glove to remove the pot from the oven. Place the pot onto the wooden base and put grilled or baked ingredients in it. The cast iron retains the heat keeping the dish warm at the table. Do not put the wooden base in the oven. Clean it by washing with a damp cloth. Do not put the pot or the base in a dishwasher
